What is TANCET?
TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by Anna University, Chennai, on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
It is the official exam for admission into:
- MBA
- MCA
- ME/M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan
in government, government-aided, and self-financing institutions in Tamil Nadu.

Eligibility Criteria

- Bachelor’s Degree (any stream) with minimum 50% (45% for SC/ST)

- Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation level

- Relevant B.E./B.Tech or equivalent degree
- GATE qualified candidates may apply without TANCET

No. All Indian students can apply, but priority is given to Tamil Nadu candidates in counselling.
Q: Can I apply to Anna University MBA through TANCET?
Yes. CEG and DoMS (Anna University) accept TANCET for MBA admissions.
Q: Is there any reservation?
Yes. Tamil Nadu state reservation policies (OC, BC, MBC, SC, ST, etc.) apply during counselling.
Q: Is GATE compulsory for ME/M.Tech?
No. You can appear in TANCET instead of GATE for PG Engineering admissions.
