SSC CGL Syllabus 2025

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) recruitment through a two-tier selection process. The final merit list will be prepared based solely on the marks obtained in the Tier 2 examination. All stages of the SSC CGL 2025 exam will be conducted in online mode.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Syllabus 2025

Students beginning their preparation must first be familiar with the subject-wise syllabus for the Tier-1 exam, which comprises four sections: Quantitative Aptitude, General Intelligence & Reasoning, English Language, and General Awareness. The detailed SSC CGL 2025 Tier-1 syllabus has been provided below.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern

SSC CGL Tier 1 exam is conducted in online mode (Computer Based Examination) and will be qualifying in nature. The Tier 1 consists of 4 sections with 25 questions each and a total of 100 questions for 200 marks. The time duration for completing the Tier-1 Exam is 60 minutes & there is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Topic-wise Weightage

The topic-wise weightage for SSC CGL Tier-1 2025 has been outlined below, based on the analysis of previous years’ trends. SSC CGL Tier 2 Syllabus 2025

Once the preliminary exam is completed, candidates must shift their focus towards the Tier-2 exam. The Mains will be conducted online in an objective multiple-choice format, except for Module II (Data Entry Speed Test) of Section III of Paper-I, which is skill-based. The detailed SSC CGL Tier-2 syllabus and exam pattern are provided below.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern

Paper-I will be held in two sessions—Session I and Session II—on the same day, and it is compulsory for all candidates who qualify for this stage. Session I will cover Section I, Section II, and Module I of Section III, while Session II will be dedicated to Module II of Section III. Candidates must qualify in all sections of Paper-I to be considered for further selection.

The primary objective of this section is to assess a candidate’s ability to use numbers accurately and demonstrate strong number sense. While Quantitative Aptitude is also included in the Tier-1 exam, the difficulty level and type of questions in Tier-2 will be set at a slightly higher and more moderate standard. This section of the SSC CGL Tier-2 syllabus assesses a candidate’s fluency in the English language. A solid understanding of the following topics is essential to score well in this section. Questions in this section are designed to assess a candidate’s general awareness of their surroundings and the application of this knowledge in society. They also evaluate awareness of current events and understanding of everyday phenomena from a scientific perspective, as expected of an educated individual. Additionally, the test will include questions related to history, geography, polity, economy, and culture to provide a comprehensive assessment of the candidate’s general knowledge.

For some candidates, this section might be tough & difficult to understand. The basic tip is to get the concept clear and repetitive revision of the concepts would be beneficial to grab good marks in this section too. The SSC CGL Tier-2 Syllabus for Statistics is described as follows-
